The underlying licensing framework has changed as of second half of 2021. This means that if your running versions of APIS is made prior to that and your license is somehow no longer valid, you need to make changes to be able to continue using APIS.
Ideally, we want you to upgrade to the latest version of our software, but we know that this is not always possible for running systems. To allow you to patch up a running system without doing a full upgrade, we are utilizing a method originally created for a client (Schlumberger). The result of this is that you will see the following text in APIS Buddy: Licensed by: Schlumberger.
You will need to upgrade to version 7.3 or higher. Please contact your Prediktor
representative to receive a free upgrade from 7.2 to 7.3.
To license the product with this new licensing method, you will need to install a license server and license helper tool. You can find a zip-file with all the components needed for licensing here: https://www.prediktor.com/hubfs/Downloads/APIS_LicenseFix.zip
Do the following steps before trying to activate the license as described later in the document:
Depending on whether you run a 32 bit or 64 bit product version: Create a new folder “Lex” under the Bin or Bin64 folder of your APIS installation (typically c:\Program Files\APIS\Bin64).
Unzip the downloaded package. You should see 3 subfolders: Bin, Bin64 and Tools
Depending on whether you run a 32-bit or 64-bit product version: Copy the content from the downloaded Bin or Bin64 folder to the new “Lex” folder.
Depending on whether you run a 32-bit or 64-bit product version: Run the VC_redist.x86.exe and/or VC_redist.x64.exe from the downloaded Tools folder. Make sure these commands are run with administrator privileges.
Run the ApisLicenserUtil.exe and press ‘N’ when the tool asks if you want to override the default license service URL. Make sure this command is run with administrator privileges. You must also make sure that all Prediktor APIS services are stopped before running this command as it otherwise will not be able to correctly patch your bin folder.
